Inside & Out

This young Ballard family loved to prepare meals together, but their mid-century kitchen was cramped, closed-off, and generally not up to the task. Their home also lacked casual living and outdoor space. We completely reimagined the kitchen with better ergonomics and a more open flow to the dining and living rooms. The basement was transformed from a cold, concrete-floored utilitarian space to a warm and inviting extension of the home, complete with a family room and luxurious full bath. Custom cherry cabinets with slim Shaker doors were specified throughout the home, and a gorgeous new oak staircase seamlessly integrates the two levels and ties the interior design together. The drab exterior was given a major upgrade, with a gorgeous covered entry and a stylish covered back porch with overhead radiant heat, perfect for three-season entertaining.

A tale of two entries

This home's entry offered no protection from the rain and presented a drab appearance to the street. Our clients wanted a dry and welcoming stairway, and that's what we designed. The new entry features a generous gabled roof with wide overhangs that boosts the home's curb appeal tremendously.
