Russian Cemetery Nice
The Russian cemetery at Caucade, a south-western suburb of Nice, is home to more princes and princesses than you will find interred in even the most illustrious cathedrals. This small area of land is not reserved only for Russians, but has graves that represent the whole Orthodox diaspora. So amid the Galtzines and Gagarines, you will find grand tombs of Serbs and Romanians. There are even some Frasheris from Albania (photo © hidden europe).

Trabuquet Cemetery
Both the Menton cemeteries afford fine views, particularly east along the Mediterranean coast towards Italy. This grave in the upper (Trabuquet) cemetery surely ranks as having one of the best views (photo © hidden europe).

Vieux Château Cemetery
High above the Old Town of Menton, two cemeteries have graves that reflect Menton’s multicultural status. Here is a Russian grave in the Vieux Château cemetery, but elsewhere here (and also in the nearby hilltop cemetery at Trabuquet) you will find headstones inscribed in English, Yiddish, Polish, German and a dozen other languages (photo © hidden europe).
